Chen Tao, Female, PhD, Professor；2001，Bachelor, Gem Institute of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan); 2006, PhD, School of Earth and Space Scienecs; Peking University; 2006 to Now, a professor of gem department in Gem Institute, research on gemology and mineral physics; 2008, qualifications and certificates of “Appraiser of Quality Inspection and Registration of National Gemstone” and “National Appraiser of Gemstone”; 2010, fully sponsored by China Scholarship Council, as a visiting scholar in 2012，engaged in the joint study for one year in Argonne National Laboratory of University of Chicago；2011-2013，engaged in on-the-job postdoctoral research work in Jin Zhenmin’s team in national key laboratory of geological process and mineral resources of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan); Now, a committee member of the 2nd department of Earth Fund Committee, National Natural Science Fund, editor of Journal of Gems & Gemmology, reviewer of Journal of Earth Science and Spectroscopy and Spectral Analysis, lifetime member of China Geological Society, lifetime member of China Mineral Rock Geochemistry Association, member of AGU, director member of Young Technologists Association in Hubei. The current research involved: seal stone and locality identification, cause of color of gemstone, rock microstructure and mineral microstructure. Chen has presided two projects of National Natural Fund Science, one project from China Postdoctoral Fund Committee, one project of preferred-aid-to-post-doctors in Hubei. Chen has achieved the second batch of "Cradle Project" fund for central universities by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), a fund for outstanding young teachers. Chen has published over 40 academic papers in domestic and international journals, among them 12 first-authored SCI, EI articles (including 5 international SCI articles), one monograph by Science Press (Beijing). The students directed by her have published 8 first-authored core journals and important journal articles. In 2011, Chen gained Excellent Supervisor for Outstanding Undergraduates Thesis in Hubei and in 2013, Excellent Supervisor for Outstanding Master Thesis in her school.
